When in Cambridgeshire, you will certainly want to acquaint yourself with the horse-racing town of Newmarket, home to the famous racecourse and Jockey Club. Bizarrely, though Newmarket is almost entirely surrounded by Cambridgeshire, and has the Cambridgeshire postcode, it is actually considered part of Suffolk. Nonetheless, this is no excuse not to enjoy a few days in this wonderful town. As it is home to a nationally famous racecourse, Newmarket is a hub of activity during big race meets, which means that it is adorned with several first-rate hotels such as the Rutland Arms, located on Newmarket’s High Street. For those interested in a hotel complete with a bar known for its electric atmosphere, then go no further than the White Hart Hotel, which is directly adjacent to a taxi rank. This hotel is best suited for single people out for a great time. A more family-orientated hotel lies about a mile away from High Street down Bury Road. The Bedford Lodge Hotel has a far more relaxed atmosphere, comes with a gym, restaurant and bar and is an ideal place to take your children. Parents in need of a little rest time, can visit the health Spa on site, and emerge from it feeling radiant and vibrant. Those not blessed with a hefty budget are also catered for, in the form of numerous B&B’s in the town, as well as in neighbouring towns like Burwell. Newmarket is awash with great hotels, for those who come in the high season, from May to July, the opportunity is there to enjoy one of the famous Newmarket Nights events. These consist of a night at the races, followed by a high calibre performer. Previous guests have included the pianist Jools Holland and the whole package comes with a guarantee of an entertaining experience.

COUNCIL personality Nick Clarke discharged Government claims that Cambridgeshire had a “moral duty” to solidify legislature taxation and pronounced lifting it by 2.95 per cent “is simply a right thing to do for a communities.”

Leader of Cambs County Council, Nick Clarke

He told a bill environment assembly of a county legislature currently that “this is not a time to be held in a headlights. This is not a time for gesticulate politics. This is a time for leadership, a time to deposit for mercantile success, a time to deposit in a communities’ future.”

A new rail hire during Chesterton – upheld by a Government- together with superfast broadband and a new by pass for Ely showed “this administration is about action, not rhetoric.”

Cllr Clarke claimed a county legislature was “being confidant and we are holding large decisions. We will not lay behind and manage a decrease of a highway network, we will not idly watch over as a immature people see their opportunities for training and practice dry adult before their eyes.

“We will not teeter helplessly as a amicable caring services are stretched to violation point.”

Leader of Cambs County Council, Nick Clarke

He added: “That is not what a people of Cambridgeshire merit from us. They merit much, most some-more and that is what they are saying from us today.”

He pronounced a county was creation £540 million value of assets over 5 years though notwithstanding this “we have not lifted a bar for a eligibility to a amicable caring services, we have not sealed libraries, we have stable lollipop ladies and we are creation collateral investments to kindle a economy.”

Taking a Government’s one off offer on legislature taxation would leave Cambridgeshire with a £30 million black hole “and we only can’t means that though requesting some large cuts to a services.”

He pronounced he indispensable to demeanour people in a eye “and tell them they will be means to entrance support and insurance when they need it we have to be means to demeanour a immature chairman in a eye and tell them we can keep we safe.

“I have to demeanour a aged in a eye and tell them that will we will give a support they need to lift on.”

Cambridgeshire, he said, had a ability to flog start a mercantile liberation of a whole nation and a county legislature would be during a forefront of investment.

But he pronounced a council’s other priorities remained to renovate amicable caring given “the universe around us is changing, and we need to keep pace.”

A ‘working with families’ indication was a confidant beginning embracing 44 amicable work units to offer a best service, best support to staff and best outcomes for exposed children and families.

And he betrothed initiatives “to aim apparatus during rebellious child misery opposite a county” and to mislay health inequalities.

Cllr Clarke was assured of support from Cambridgeshire’s legislature taxation payers claiming people had told them “loud and transparent that if it protects a essential services afterwards we are peaceful to compensate a small more.

“That’s a tough call for households to make in formidable times, though it is a right one.”

And a reason, he argued, was that “people recognize a pain that even some-more extreme cuts to frontline services in destiny years would bring.”

More than 200 additional breeze turbines will have to be built in a subsequent dual decades if Cambridgeshire is to get anywhere nearby CO rebate goals.

But legislature leaders and village groups are endangered about a impact on a landscape.

What do we think? Post a criticism during a bottom of this article.

New investigate says 28 per cent of feverishness and electricity will have to come from renewable sources by 2030 if a county is to minister to Government targets by slicing a CO footprint by 43 per cent, and concludes breeze will have to play an “important” role.

The report, drawn adult for internal authorities underneath a plan called a Cambridgeshire Renewables Infrastructure Framework, presents several options for augmenting renewable appetite generation, though a usually unfolding that hits a aim envisages a construction of 455 turbines over a subsequent 20 years.

This would see 47 per cent of Cambridgeshire’s appetite entrance from renewable sources but, if new turbines were ruled out, a figure drops to only 19 per cent.

A third unfolding underneath that 212 turbines would be built falls only short, during 26 per cent.

The news says a south and easterly of a county, and Huntingdonshire, have a biggest intensity for additional turbines.

Cllr Ray Manning, personality of South Cambridgeshire District Council, pronounced he elite to concentration on improving insulation and installing energy-efficient boilers.

He said: “Although we are committed to renewable energy, we do not trust large-scale breeze farms are indispensably right for this area, or excusable to a residents, and full legislature has already pronounced dual or some-more turbines should not be lucky within 1.5 miles of any building.”

Cllr James Palmer, emissary personality of East Cambridgeshire District Council, pronounced he was privately “highly dubious” about meridian change and suspicion it was expected to be a healthy phenomenon.

He said: “I worry about a advantages breeze farms yield deliberation a cost to a taxpayer and to a landscape, quite in a Cambridgeshire countryside, that has a really prosaic topography.”

Community groups have fought many campaigns opposite breeze farms in Cambridgeshire, including during Cotton Farm, nearby Graveley.

Bev Gray, authority of Cotton Farm Action Group, said: “Wind plantation appetite is simply not practicable and to build all those turbines is not efficient. It’s my faith there is nowhere in Huntingdonshire suitable for any such projects.”

The news says Cambridgeshire already has one of a top renewable appetite outputs in a UK and adds there is also an critical purpose for solar panels, feverishness pumps, and era of appetite from biomass or waste.

Tony Juniper, a former executive executive of Friends of a Earth and a Cambridge resident, pronounced manmade meridian change was genuine and would have “huge ramifications” for tellurian civilisation, so there indispensable to be a “substantial increase” in appetite era from wind.

He said: “Wind farms have to be in a right place – there is no indicate putting breeze farms where it’s not windy, and we don’t wish them in places where they will means avoidable repairs to wildlife or ancestral landscapes.

“If we take those 3 criteria and put them on a map of a UK, we have still got a lot of opportunities and we consider Cambridgeshire, with good clever and solid winds in a Fens, would be a good place to do it.”

Anyone visiting the region will be glad to know that there is no shortage of taxis in Cambridgeshire. There is a rank directly outside Cambridge train station and they will take you into the city centre for around £6 (€9) depending on exactly where you want to go.

Taxis aren’t advised for travelling between the major cities such as Cambridge and Peterborough as this could get expensive. It’s also unnecessary as there is a good rail network between all the cities. All taxis in Cambridgeshire operate on a meter system where you pay a set price per mile you travel. Some taxi companies will offer you a fixed fare, for example to an airport where the distance is known beforehand but this usually needs to be agreed in advance. Most taxis also add on a supplement for extra passengers, and for travelling at certain times of the day so if you wonder why the meter is on a fee before you have gone anywhere that is probably the reason. The final thing to note is that as in most countries, Cambridgeshire county council operate a licensing scheme for their drivers. This should be clearly displayed on the back of the taxi and there should also be a picture ID badge with the driver. If these are not displayed clearly , or the driver will not show them to you our advice is to get out of the taxi and wait for the next one.
