There will be fun for all the family at an archaeology open day at Cambridgeshire’s historic Wandlebury Hillfort on Saturday, (tomorrow) from noon to 5pm.
Visitors can meet Romans re-enactors, make ancient pots, handle artefacts and enjoy guided tours of the Iron Age fort. There will also be a special exhibition of human skeletons and forensic pathology.
Cambridgeshire Archaeology and Cambridge Past, Present and Future (formerly the Cambridge Preservation Society) are holding their flagship annual family day at the fort.
Residents are asked to bring in old objects to be identified. There is also a prize for the best dressed Roman or a Celt, the winner will be announced at 3pm. Tickets cost £2 per person (under 16 years old go free). Parking is extra.
