A woman has died in a head-on collision which left three other people including a child injured.
The woman, a 35-year-old from the Ely area, was a front-seat passenger in a blue Ford Fiesta which was in a crash with a grey Hyundai Tucson on the A142 Witchford bypass at about 4.20pm today.
The driver of the Fiesta, a 17-year-old man, suffered serious head injuries and was airlifted to Addenbrooke’s Hospital.
Two other people, including at least one child who was in the Fiesta, suffered minor injuries and were taken to Addenbrooke’s by land ambulance.
The occupants of the Tucson were not thought to be seriously hurt.
Firefighters had to cut several people free and the road was closed after the accident. It was expected to remain closed for some time, with diversions put in place.
Crews from Littleport, Cottenham, Ely and Cambridge attended the incident, alongside five ambulance crews and the air ambulance.
