Olympic mascots head for Cambridgeshire

Olympic mascots Wenlock and Mandeville are coming to Cambridgeshire this weekend.

The pair will be at Park Life, a London 2012 celebration which is being held at Milton Country Park on Sunday.

They will lead a parade at 3.30pm and join a range of activities ranging from kayaking, waterwalking, and paddleboarding, plus trampolining, climbing and fencing.

There will be an inflatable assault course and a sports zone with Olympic challenges and family races, plus an arts area hosting puppet making, circus skills, comedy acts and street poetry.

Cllr James Hockney, South Cambridgeshire District Council’s Olympics chief, invited residents to come to Park Life – which runs from 11am to 6pm and is free.

Cllr Hockney said: “We’re very excited to welcome the official London 2012 mascots to South Cambridgeshire on their journey to the Games.

“They will join the thousands who attend Park Life every year, and this year’s promises to be the biggest and best yet.”

The event is organised by the district council in partnership with Cambridge Sport Lakes Trust.
