Murder probe after 'firearms' death

“Firearms were involved” in the murder of a 36-year-old man in Cambridgeshire, police have said.

Officers were called to reports of a shooting in First Drove, Burwell, at about 02:00 GMT.

Cambridgeshire Police said the investigation was in its early stages but the murder was being treated as “an isolated incident”.

Det Ch Insp Jason Gordon said the man’s family had been informed but formal identification had not yet taken place.

He said the body had been found in a car.

A cordon is in place at First Drove and will remain “for some time”, police said.

Det Ch Insp Gordon, from the Bedfordshire, Cambridgeshire and Hertfordshire major crime unit, added:

“We are keen to hear from anyone who may have information about this man’s death.”

A spokesman for the East of England Ambulance Service said when crews arrived at the scene, they found one man dead.

A second man was taken to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge with facial injuries, not thought to be life-threatening.
