The Cambridgeshire FA are celebrating a dramatic rise in the number of teams joining its leagues this season.
The Kershaw and NMC Leagues have attracted 16 new sides across their 15 divisions, with a rise to 212 teams.
They include four teams from the recently-folded Halstead League, plus two other clubs from outside the county – Houghton Wyton and Kedington.
Cambs FA competitions manager Chris Abbott said: “Teams are attracted to the Cambs League because of the way we run it.
“We also have tremendous support from our sponsors Kershaw, who have been involved since 1991, and I’m also pleased to welcome another sponsor this season, Newmarket Motor Company.
“To attract more teams, including those from outside the Cambridgeshire FA area, just proves what a strong competition it is.”
Meanwhile, the number of teams in the Barry M Kempton Under-12 9v9 League has more than doubled from last season, with 51 sides spread over five divisions compared with 23 in two divisions last term.
