Hotels in Newmarket

When in Cambridgeshire, you will certainly want to acquaint yourself with the horse-racing town of Newmarket, home to the famous racecourse and Jockey Club.
Bizarrely, though Newmarket is almost entirely surrounded by Cambridgeshire, and has the Cambridgeshire postcode, it is actually considered part of Suffolk. Nonetheless, this is no excuse not to enjoy a few days in this wonderful town.

As it is home to a nationally famous racecourse, Newmarket is a hub of activity during big race meets, which means that it is adorned with several first-rate hotels such as the Rutland Arms, located on Newmarket’s High Street. For those interested in a hotel complete with a bar known for its electric atmosphere, then go no further than the White Hart Hotel, which is directly adjacent to a taxi rank. This hotel is best suited for single people out for a great time.

A more family-orientated hotel lies about a mile away from High Street down Bury Road. The Bedford Lodge Hotel has a far more relaxed atmosphere, comes with a gym, restaurant and bar and is an ideal place to take your children. Parents in need of a little rest time, can visit the health Spa on site, and emerge from it feeling radiant and vibrant.
Those not blessed with a hefty budget are also catered for, in the form of numerous B&B’s in the town, as well as in neighbouring towns like Burwell.

Newmarket is awash with great hotels, for those who come in the high season, from May to July, the opportunity is there to enjoy one of the famous Newmarket Nights events. These consist of a night at the races, followed by a high calibre performer. Previous guests have included the pianist Jools Holland and the whole package comes with a guarantee of an entertaining experience.
