The Fitzwilliam Museum was founded in 1816 by Richard, 7th Viscount Fitzwilliam and is the art museum of the University of Cambridge. One of the oldest museums in the country it houses magnificent collections of works of art and antiquities spanning centuries and civilisations.

Experience masterpieces of European paintings and drawings by Leonardo da Vinci, Rembrandt and Van Dyke, outstanding works of French Impressionism by Monet, Degas and Cézanne and paintings by great British artists including Gainsborough, Reynolds, Stubbs and Constable, displayed alongside furniture, sculpture and applied arts in the distinctive surroundings of the Museum’s warmly inviting galleries.

Encounter antiquities from Egypt, the Ancient Near East, Greece, Rome and Cyprus, complemented by new displays of material from Ancient Sudan.

Engage with a fine collection of 20th century art, including sculpture by Barbara Hepworth and Henry Moore, paintings by Kenneth Noland, Larry Poons, Hughie O’Donoghue and Nicholas de Staël and ceramics by Hans Coper and Gabriele Koch.

Explore galleries displaying oriental art, Korean ceramics, English and European pottery and glass, armour, illuminated manuscripts and coins and medals bordering the Fitzwilliam’s light and airy 21st century Courtyard where you can browse in the Museum shop or relax in the Courtyard Café.
