Pubs in Cambridgeshire

There is such a wide variety of pubs in Cambridgeshire that it’s difficult to know where to start.

You will find England’s smallest pub, the Nutshell in the Suffolk town of Bury St Edmunds. I must warn you now, this isn’t a pub for a pub crawl! You can barely get 5 people in, including the bar staff but it’s definitely worth a visit if you are in the Cambridgeshire/Suffolk area, purely for it’s historical interest.

Barely 20 miles away in Cambridge you will find one of the UK’s biggest pubs, The Regal on Regent Street Cambridge. The former picture house has been converted into a 2 storey monster of a pub with 5 or 6 separate drinking areas. The only curious thing about this place is that will all that space they didn’t think to put a dance floor in and have it as a pub/club which means at times in can be lacking in atmosphere. That said, if there is a large group of you looking for somewhere to start the night you can’t go far wrong than starting here.

In between these two there are over 600 other pubs in Cambridgeshire ranging from the uber cosmopolitan bars in Cambridge, to the more tranquil traditional pubs in and around Ely and St Neots.
